Taurus New Moon: Practical Solutions

We’ve entered Taurus Season, and, with it, comes the Taurus New Moon cycle. The Moon enters Her New phase this Sunday at 3:31p EDT at 7° Taurus.

Taurus New Moon

New Moons are new beginnings. It’s as if each lunar cycle is a beautiful chalk drawing that gets washed clean in time for the next one. And you, my darling, are the artist with chalk in hand, waiting to create your next masterpiece with the Universe. Astrology is a tool that can help you understand how to make best use of the tools and materials you’re working with at any given time. Without it, you still may create something beautiful. But … you may not. These posts I share with you are an opportunity to increase your chances for creating the most stunning expressions of life possible with the tools you’ve been given. (You’re welcome.)

Taurus is a sign of sensuality, reliability, patience, and diligence. This is Fixed Earth energy. It pertains to the body, the material world, money, the earth beneath your feet. There are very practical matters at play when the Earth signs are being highlighted in the heavens. Taurus bears the symbol of the Cosmic Bull. The Bull can be extremely hard-working, consistent, and determined as it moves through life, but it is always moving toward some pleasurable reward. She knows that the delight of the reward will be worth the effort put in to achieve it. She can sometimes be a bit like a … well … a bull … in a china shop. She can get tunnel-visioned as she’s working, and neglect to take notice of the delicate things in Her periphery. She can also, when the mood strikes Her, be quite stubborn. Once She gets started it can be hard to shut her down. (It’s that Fixed energy.)

Taurus New Moon

The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is A Sleigh Without Snow. This conjures up images of someone trying to force some progress and/or fun by using the wrong tool at the wrong time. This takes us back to that Fixed Earth stubborn Taurus energy. It can be very easy to get an idea of how to make something happen, without considering all the factors at play. Then, with that fixed perspective, there’s a continual banging of the head against the wall trying to make that image a reality. When the easier thing to do would be to simply make some adjustments in order to better suit the circumstances at hand. No snow? Maybe toss the sleigh and grab a bicycle! In other words … don’t make it harder than it needs to be just because you’ve settled on an idea of what it should be.

Venus, Taurus’ ruler, is curled up in a tight little foursome with Neptune, Saturn, and the North Node. And they’re all sitting at the apex of a Minor Triangle giving them even greater focus at this New Moon. This is offering up an opportunity to grow closer to your spiritual destiny with grace, charm, and maturity. Think of this as your time to graduate to a higher level of personal learning and development. Commit to your spiritual practices. Make harmony and balance a priority in your everyday life.

Perhaps the biggest news at this time is the opposition between Mars and Pluto. This is their third face-off in a dance that began back in November of last year. Mars was in Cancer; Pluto in Capricorn. They’ve since changed signs. Mars is now in Leo; Pluto in Aquarius. There is deeply transformative power available that has the ability to shift the entire direction we are moving. This is true collectively, and personally. Have you been experiencing a change in direction emerging in your own life? Are you being driven by deeper desires and aspects of yourself?

During this New Moon in Taurus, you may feel this shift showing up more practically in your daily life. And this opposition is making a Grand Cross (double T-Squares) with the Sun/Moon and Black Moon Lilith. T-Squares instigate movement and action. They have the energy of Mars, so with Mars involved so heavily, already, expect some real buzzy energetics here. The apex of the T-Square is where to look in order to bridge the gap of the opposition. Basically, this could feel like a staring contest between two powder kegs (Mars and Pluto—both intense and powerful in their own ways). Imagine them playing chicken with a box of matches. The key to keeping them chill enough to find some common ground—and to avoid a massive explosion—is to look to the Sun/Moon in Taurus and Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio.

Sun/Moon in Taurus (aka: the New Moon) suggests getting grounded with some self-care. Tend to your own light and your own needs.

BML asks you to look at the resentments that have built up from others trying to slow you down and subdue your power with their own self-serving power games. Sound your wild guttural roar and make yourself heard and seen. It’s up to you to self-advocate … especially during these chaotic days of uncertainty, change, and confusion.

With Jupiter in a supportive sextile with Chiron, you may find yourself expanding your ability to transform your pain into deep healing.

So this Moon is basically an opportunity to look at what isn’t working, get clear on what you need and desire from the situation, and then set about figuring out your own way of changing the circumstances to suit your needs. Be unapologetic about your choices. But also be practical. Notice when you’re letting your fixed perspective keep you finding a new and supportive approach. And take good care of yourself (body, mind, and spirit) through it all. 💚
